Otoplasty, Botox, Blepharoplasty, Rhinoplasty and more great Plastic Surgery for the Face.

What are you talking about?

You may not realize it but your body can tell someone so much about you. Whether we are interested, confident, poised, healthy, strong, young or old. Sometimes many of these body signals are detected at subconscious levels.

Beyond Words

Besides observing gross body postures and movements, the eyes can detect tiny changes in the bodies of others. Research in laboratories has shown that some of these slight changes are detected at the subconscious level. Here are some of the subtle changes the subconscious can detect.

* Changes in skin tone and texture due to blood flow changes when emotions fluctuate.
* Changes in eye pupil size as interest peaks and wanes.
* Tensioning and release of tiny muscles in the face and scalp from emotional changes.
* Eye angle changes (even at a distance) as one diverts attention away or on something.
* The precision timing of eye contact indicating interest, disinterest, or intimidation.

What do my ears & nose tell others about me

An unconscious cue to recognize youth in is the size of ears compared to the size of eyes.
The ears and nose continue to grow constantly as we age but the eye size remains nearly the same throughout life.

Women throughout history have also taken advantage of this fact and made themselves look younger by using makeup to increase the apparent size of their eyes. Surgery can change the nose (Rhinoplasty) and ears (Otoplasty) to remove a decade or two.

At the right is a woman with her 95 year old ears. Compare her ear size with the much younger woman above.

Older woman who wish to appear as young as possible may want to wear their hair long to cover their ears! Men on the other hand can have otoplasty performed, which can change the projection (how far they stick out) of the ears but not the length. There are surgeries than can reduce the size of the earlobe. Dr. Thomas performs both ear projection and earlobe repair surgeries.

Wise Eyes

You heard the saying “The nose, knows”. Well what about the eyes? They can see and sense things too. Since the eyes are our most powerful body language message transmitters, here are some general rules about looking into the eyes of another person for longer periods of time.

It’s okay to stare for long period of time when you:

* Like or love a person.
* Are far apart and trying to improve communication.
* Are deeply interested in what they are saying.
* Know they are extroverted and like being close.
* Are expecting an answer or response from someone.
* Are trying to dominate and intimidate someone.

Tired Eyes

Many people suffer from tired, puffy or mad looking eyes. Tired eyes can project to others that you don’t want to be bothered or that you may be upset. Has anyone ever asked you if you were tired or mad when you weren’t? Tired looking eyes can be caused from droopy upper eyelids, large bags under the eyes, and/or hollow pockets under the eyes. Scowling or squinting brows can project the image of being frustrated or angry. All these aging eye issues can be addressed through some minimally invasive procedures that take less than one hour to perform.

Impressionable Eyes

We leave an impression upon others through direct personal contact “face-to -face“; whether addressing a co-worker, talking to a friend, or intimately gazing into the eyes of an attractive other. our eyes are a very important focal point of our face and therefore are a big part of translating our physical language queues to others, intentionally or not. The aesthetic appearance of our eyes can give the impression that we are alert, focused, stressed or sleep deprived.

Aging Eyes

It is natural for aging eyes to develop droopy, puffy, or discolored upper/lower eyelids. This can create the appearance of always being tired or lacking energy.

Genetically inherited sagging eyes

Some people genetically inherit eyelids that are droopy or puffy and discolored. This can create a vital misconception during first impression that the person is severely stressed or sleep deprived.

Other causes

Forehead and Brow sagging can also cause the eyelids to appear overhanging. It is important during the consultation to differentiate and determine the true cause as being from forehead/brow sag or pure upper eyelid skin excess. Presence of excessive upper eyelid skin resulting from Forehead & Brow sagging must be corrected by Forehead Lift and Browpexy rather than Blepharoplasty alone.

Blepharoplasty | Beautify Your Eyes

Blepharoplasty is a relatively safe and effective solution for improving the appearance of our eyes. Each consultation will reveal a personalized recommendation as to which Blepharoplasty procedure must be implemented in achieving the desired results.

Upper eyelid Surgery – The purpose of the upper eyelid surgery is to remove excess skin, remove excess orbicular muscle or uplift drooping eyelashes to restore a more youthful appearance or improve peripheral vision.

Lower Eyelid Surgery – To carefully and minimally remove excess fat and repair damaged or loose skin for achieving a more youthful vibrant look. As Lower eyelid surgery can improve the skin firmness of the lower eyelid, it cannot however significanlty improve other lower eyelid symptoms such as dark circles or wrinkles known as “Crows Feet” found at the outer corner of the lower eyelid. For this Dr. Thomas recommends Botox for the safe and noninvasive treatment of minimizing or eliminating the Crows Feet and Restylane for the treatment of lower lid dark circles.
